FINCAR – International Women Filmmakers Festival will take place in November and December 2024 in the cities of Recife and Afogados da Ingazeira (Pernambuco, Brazil).
1) Conditions for applications
1.1) Only films directed by women, transvestite, transmasculine and non-binary people will be taken into account, accepting codirection with cisgender men;
1.2) Short, medium and feature films of all genres;
1.3) Produced between 2021 and 2024;
1.4) Movies not spoken in Portuguese should have subtitles in English, except for the films spoken in Spanish that should have subtitles in Spanish;
1.5) Movies spoken in English should have subtitles in English;
1.6) Movies spoken in Portuguese should have subtitles in Portuguese for accessibility issues;
1.7) Films already registered in the previous edition of the festival can not be re-registered;
1.8) Mini-biography of the director.
2) Forms and deadlines for applications
Entries will only be accepted online via Google form on the festival website (www.fincar.com.br), from September 2nd to 22nd, 2024.
3) Registration to the FINCAR fim club circuit
3.1) Films submitted and selected will be shown in other Brazilian cities in the weeks following the event in Recife in conjunction with partner film clubs. Short films and medium-length films will be accepted. Only those films that select the option to participate in the film club circuit at the time of registration will be evaluated by the curatorship to join this circuit.
4) About the selection
All films submitted, selected or not, will receive an email communication up to one month before the event.
5) About the screenings
The selected movies will be screened in digital formats. The specifications of the formats and types of uploads required will be informed in the selection email.
6) Others
